Cerro Santa Lucia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Luc%C3%ADa_Hill is a large municipal park right in the center of downtown Santiago. The views from atop the hill are nice but what the city does to maintain the park is what is appreciated by all who visit. We went to the park in the late afternoon, just before sunset, and the park was filled with families, young lovers and tourists. I am convinced that the majority of people are attracted to natural beauty and parks like this will forever be popular. Chilean evenings are dreamy and casual, whether one is strolling through a park or enjoying an outdoor cafe it is just nice. The city feels European yet Latin all at the same time and have to say it is a wonderful combination.
