Las Flores

Las Flores, also on Lago Peten Itza, is an island connected to the mainland by a one kilometer long causeway. We had a lot of fun strolling the Mediterranean-esque streets and eating "street food" on the west end with the local vendors.  Truth be told, Elise and I are trying to get a stomach bug so we can lose some weight (after age 40 it's all about maintenance). But after eating at suspect eateries all over the place we still have not gotten Montezuma's Revenge. We say, "Hey look, mystery meat sitting out in the open for hours with a milk product. Must be for us". Still we get nothing.

Notice the nearly empty streets. Lack of traffic made the whole experience more enjoyable

There were some points where our 4 Runner barely squeezed by the other vehicles

Colorful neighborhoods are like post cards and are typical for Central American Pueblos

Hook 'Em Horns! Everywhere we go people calls us the Texas because of our license plate. The girls are doing a fine job representing the Lone Star state and are very polite (the Texas way)

Sunset looking out over the lake's other islands while eating street food
