For locals and many of the old-time expats, they will remember las Colinas for past wedding parties, family reunions or other large get-togethers. This restaurant, located in barrio la Sabaneta, specializes in fish dishes. Their prices are reasonable, the drinks are ice cold, and the food is delicious, what more can one ask for? Getting there at night is strictly a vehicle driven affair. Whether by taxi or by your own vehicles, as we did, walking the streets, at night, in the Sabaneta is not recommended. Still we chose to highlight this restaurant because it is off the beaten track and worth visiting. True, las Colinas is not located in a tourist neighborhood, but taxis are cheap and the restaurant's black sand floors make for a nice ambiance anyway. There are other off-the-beaten-path restaurants in Granada like Charlie's German Restaurant and La Frontera. Though these restaurants are in unlikely locations they are still successful and frequented by visitors and locals alike. So the next time you visit a new city, inquire about the other well known restaurants off the "Main St." You might just find what you were looking for all along, a unique getaway.
