The grasses, flowers and trees were budding in the spring of late June. That's right, late June and spring has just sprung. It's really fun to see how my daughters react to new things like fresh spring air and picturesque mountain streams. After all, they're more used to the tropical air and lakes of Nicaragua then the sights, sounds, and smells of a northern temperate valley. This was a joyful reminder that experiencing life through the eyes of children is as unique, as it is fleeting. Nothing could ever replace seeing my daughters' super-wide-open eyes and their jaws drop at the sight of a grinningly beautiful natural setting. You know... the kind of beauty that makes you smile uncontrollably.

Beauty that makes you smile
We stayed at a quiet riverside RV park in Idaho and the stream adjoining the park was stunning. The girls and I took a nice hike and admired the sites and sounds of this slow moving stream. The crickets, frogs and birds sang their ballads to the trickling sounds of the crystal clear waters. Their melodious chorus was occasionally interrupted by the abrupt quack of a duck. It was so idyllic that even my kids were struck by how beautiful nature can be. They kept saying, "Daddy, it smells so good here!" I explained that they were smelling Springtime. They kept exhaling and breathing in lung loads of air each time, to the point that they were getting dizzy and giggling. They were being silly, getting high on spring air, and somehow I believe, they'll never forget it.
